I only came for the summer and I ended up staying for 40 years

It’s not many people who can claim to have worked continuously for one business but John Parker can do just that. Having originally joined Allen Concrete at 16 his plan was to work the summer holidays to get himself a bit of cash. John enjoyed it so much that he is now celebrating 40 years with us. John is our Operations Manager at Wellingborough and has worked his way up through the business having carried out various roles on reinforcing steel, the production line, yard foreman, and assistant works manager.

“The time has absolutely flown by but I have enjoyed every minute of it” says John. “It’s been amazing to see how the business has developed over the years and to see the development of the site with the investment in new equipment which has revolutionised how we produce concrete fence posts and gravel boards in the volumes that we now do”.

John – thank you for your hard work, loyalty and commitment and here’s to the next 40 years!
